Primarily known for the foundation of structuralism. One of the people who helped to give psychology its reputation for being strange. Tested intestinal sensation by having his students swallow a tube with a latex condom. Investigated vision, hearing, and intestinal sensations attached to it; would then pour differing temperatures of water down the tube to i(cid:374)flate the (cid:272)o(cid:374)do(cid:373) (cid:449)ould the(cid:374) have to report if they felt anything. Highly interested in body sensations---particularly interested in what we felt when we had sex (ask married grad students to report what sex felt like with their spouse) Investigation about sex, lectures on sex, etc. were frowned upon during this period of time.
