Globalization: process in which people, ideas, and goods spread throughout the world, spurring more interaction and integration between the world"s cultures, governments, and economies. Us has the largest number of international migrants compared to other countries. 76% of immigrants are in the country legally. 14% of population is foreign born, smaller proportion when compared to other countries like australia (28%) People form new identities as they move around the world and have identity crises in which they question their sense of identity due to a change in their role in society. Some people have transnational identities in which they are marked by multiple identities and allegiances. People ascribe their own identities and can reject prescribed identities. Culture shock: feeling disoriented when one is suddenly immersed into an unfamiliar culture/way of life/set of attitudes. Multicultural society: coexistence of culturally defined groups within a nation state. Us is a multicultural society composed of many different groups that coexist.
