Halter class- a class where the horse is judged based on its conformation. Halter horse judging- a positive evaluation of balance, structural correctness, breed and sex characteristics, and muscling. All of horse evaluation is positive evaluation. Look for a horse to win, not one to lose. Reference points: back, neck, shoulder, quarter/hip. Back- 1:2 ratio: top to bottom line top is 1/2/ distance of bottom, short & strong, level over top line. Neck 2:1 ratio: top to bottom line pole to center of withers, thin and trim, should tie in high to the body well above the point of shoulder. Shoulder: should be at 45o angle, related to length of stride.
