ANEQ 352 Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Jimi System, Horse Gait, Canter And Gallop
Document Summary
Forehand: freer shoulder, flatter knee, reach & lighter. Find the ideal pleasure horse: best combination of consistency, movement, brokenness & functional correctness. A horse will not be penalized for passing another horse. Horses are to be shown at a walk, jog and lope in a reasonably loose rein without undue restraint. Horses must work both ways of the ring at all the 3 gaits to demonstrate their ability. Some classes may ask for a moderate extension of gait. Horses may be required to reverse at a walk or a jog at the discretion of the judge. Must be alert, with a stride of reasonable length in keeping with the size of the horse. Jog should be square, balanced with a straight forward movement of the feet. Should be a natural stride and appear relaxed and smooth. Should be ridden at a speed that is natural way of going and drive off the hocks.
