24 October Trigeminal Nerve (V) Principal sensory nerve of head (skin of face, cornea of eye, teeth, mucous membranes of mouth and nose, anterior 2/3 tongue, meninges) Motor supply to muscles of mastication 3 divisions of V V – ophthalmic 1 Sensory V2– maxillary Sensory V3– mandibular Sensory/motor V 1 ophthalmic Cornea, globe of eye Frontal sinuses Meninges Skin of forehead – supraorbital nerve Supraorbital nerve → supraorbital foramen → roof of orbit → superior orbital fissure → trigeminal ganglion → brainstem After passing through superior orbital fissure, is single ophthalmic nerve V 2 maxillary Skin of upper cheek, upper lip, lateral nose Upper teeth Nasal cavity Nasopharynx Meninges Infraorbital nerve → infraorbital foramen
