Document Summary

Even though there is testosterone, there is nowhere to receive it so there is no need for a wolffian duct. Testes secrete amh, so there is no mullerian duct either. Spermatogenesis: make lots of sperm (mitosis, make haploid sperm (meiosis, metamorphosis. Steps: spermatagonia (immature) - freshmen, primary spermatocytes (meiosis 1) - sophomore --still diploid, secondary spermatocytes (meiosis 2) - junior, spermatid -senior. The difference between a spermatid and a spermatogonia: Spermatids have 23 chromosomes and spermatogonia have 46 chromosomes. Spermiogenesis is when spermatids develop a head, midpiece and a tail. If they are still attached to the sertoli cell they aren"t ready to leave. If they go into the lumen and out of the testis those are mature. Germ cells are in between the sertoli cells, but the sertoli cells are connected to one another. Has a basal compartment and an adluminal compartment. Each one has different types of germ cells.
