CO 150 Lecture Notes - Lecture 10: The The, Chat Room, Online Predator
Document Summary
Since 1998, over two million reports of child sexual exploitation have been reported to the cybertipline (missingkids. com) Issue: with the increase in popularity of the internet in the last decade, a new era of criminals has emerged. History: with the invention of internet chat rooms, social media, and other ways of communicating online the invention of the online predator was also created. Sexual predators are no longer as obvious as old men in white vans. They have evolved into hiding behind computer screens and portraying themselves as teens. Stakeholder: the primary stakeholders in this issue are victims, parents, law enforcement, and finally the predators themselves. The abstract stakeholders are the victims of online predators, primarily teens and children. The specific stakeholder is the katie tarbox, a 13-year-old girl who was lucky to be lucky enough to have narrowly escaped what could have been a tragic sexual assault with a much older man she met online.
