Tokenism- practice of making only a symbolic effort to do a particular thing by recruiting a small # of ppl from an underrepresented group in order to give the appearance of sexual or racial equality in the workforce. Scapegoat- person blamed for the faults, wrongdoings of others. Essentialism- belief that things have a set of characteristics that make them what they are and the task of science is their discovery and expression, doctrine that essence is prior to existence. Anomaly- something that deviates from what is standard, normal or expected. Privilege being seen around race (white), gender (male), class (upper) Upper class has privilege to education, quality, money, legal representation. Imperialism- extending a country"s power and influence thru diplomacy and military force. Patronization- treated as less, not as high a status. An example of patronization is rule of thumb because back in the old days switches had to be less than the width of a thumb.
