Why is puberty starting earlier for americans: americans are gaining more weight which is hitting the peak mark, in malnourished countries, individuals aren"t hitting the peak mark as early. Plato: linked infancy, childhood and adolescence to education levels, infancy. Infants mind is too undeveloped to learn much: childhood. Education in science and math should be delayed until adolescence, when the mind is finally ready to apply reason in learning these subjects: adolescence. Capacity for reason allows for study of science and math. St. augustine talked about his adolescence period and was deemed negatively. He was impulsive & pleasure seeking: children"s crusade (1212) Crusaders left from germany for the mediterranean. Believed that the waters would part for them as the red sea did for. Muslims and others believed that adolescence lacked knowledge and experience. 1890-1920: united states and other western countries created laws restricting child labor. Illegal for your child to work until 18: requirement for children to attend secondary school.
