Transduction: converting one form of energy into another, all sense act as transducers. Incoming energy >neural energy: all senses except for smell is transmitted directly to thalamus, visual stimulus. Light-electromagnetic radiation: all forms of waves produced by electrically charges particles. Some animals e. g. reptiles have infrared vision, and other animals e. g. Some animals e. g. reptiles have infrared vision, and other animals e. g. birds have ultraviolet vision: properties of light waves. Length: used to determine hue/perception of color: anatomy of the human eye, specialized organs of the eye evolved to detect light, cornea bends the light, projects it back into the retina. Lens can condense/stretch based on the closeness of what one is looking at. Light filters through pupil, to cornea, to retina, want to ultimately direct light to the fovea. Transduction to optic nerve, which turns into neural energy that the brain can process.
