Can facilitate client"s understanding of their experiences - new insights and new perspective. May be interpreted as irrelevant and unconnected to the clients concerns. Client may view your story as competition to theirs. Tell your story simply -- often just one or two sentences. Highlight the point of similarity and difference between your story and theirs. Don"t use self-disclosure as a means of giving advice. Check to see if can share the information without saying it"s your story. Always keep the focus on the client and the benefit for the client in hearing your story.
