Document Summary

One of the first stages = morula. Small mass of cells - 32 cells. Everything else continues to develop for all others. Blastula undergoes gastrulation and a pore is formed with two tissue layers at this point. This where cnidarians stop - leaving them with two tissue layers and one opening for eating and defecating. Rest of animals - this invagination continues. Protostomes first pore opening is the mouth. Determinate cell lines - each one of the cells has already predetermined destiny (already knows which system it is going to belong to/function) If cells were taken out it would be dysfunctional. Radial cleavage, grow instead of spiral out. When cells are young it does not matter or affect the system they would just keep growing. Sea stars, urchins, sand dollars, sea cucumber. Suck in water to move out (madreporite) - swell up. Dorsal hollow nerve cord forms spinal cord and brain.
