Management is the process of working with people and resources to accomplish organizational goals. Effective manager is someone who meets their goals. Efficient manager is someone who meets their goals with minimal waste of resources. Top level managers are the organization"s senior executives and are responsible for its overall management. Middle level managers are located in the middle layers of an organization hierarchy. Front line managers are lower level managers who execute the operations of the organization. Team leaders are employers who are responsible for facilitating successful team performance. The three roles that all managers perform are interpersonal roles, information roles, and decisional roles. Managers need three broad skills: technical skills, conceptual & decision skills, and interpersonal & communication skills. 5 major challenges facing managers: globalization, technological change, the importance of knowledge and idea, collaboration across organizational boundaries, increasingly diverse labor force.
