The sequence of relationship development: filter theory. Operate during the process of mate selection. Similarity of social attributes: religion, education, & social class. Similarity of attitudes/values, value consensus: judge to be too dissimilar. Similarity on need complementarity: behavioral characteristics of interpersonal styles. Doesn"t support the model of relationship development: wheel theory. Mutual self-revelation: to reveal varying degrees of information about their valuesand belief system. Mutual dependency: such that each partner becomes dependent on the other to behave in ways that help him/her to enact specific habits or obtain certain goals. Intimacy need fulfillment: evaluate whether their relationship and their interactions with each other satisfy basic intimacy needs, including love, sympathy, an support, stimulus-value-role theory. Happens among the 8th encounter (put it isn"t totally scientific) Stimulus: external attributes, physical appearance and behavior, and each also evaluates his/her own attributes in terms of how attractive they might be to the partner.
