Document Summary

Proprioception: body parts relative to each other. You can see that feet are parallel to each other. Exproprioception: body part position relative to environment. You can see you are seated against a chair. Exteroception: visual layout and position of objects. You can see the shape of the room. Activity of eye controlled by the autonomic nervous system. Concentrated in fovea (back of the eye) Work best under bright conditions: rods. Work best under poorly lit conditions (but not pitch black because otherwise you cannot see anything: rods share nerve pathways with each other, cones have a singular pathway. Rods are not used for detail; cones are used for detail (that is why they share pathways with each other). Electrical impulses leave the eye via the optic nerve. Having two systems allows us to do more things at the same time.
