5 siblings, 1st born in united states from immigrant parent. 21 years as a los angeles police officer in lapd. 1995: capital of homicide, now it"s the lowest but largest city. Homicides 50 so far presently, 42 gang related. 9600 police officers (supposed to be out in street working) 32 females police officers in 77th division, are the majority. Los angeles police department: 9600 males, 4000 females, rest males. The commitment to represent/or reflect the community that we serve. It"s more diverse now than 20 years ago. Police philosophy that said in order to have a functioning department, it should reflect the community we serve. We need to look like the community in order to help them. Personal definition of gang: symbols, activities, motivation of the group, willing to die or kill for certain symbols, etc. Assets crimes: daily basis, reports of crimes, looks for connections and trends, assign to specific detectives that have knowledge of that certain group.
