More likely to become teen parent: consequences result from socially and economically deprived environments, not from the mother"s age, dramatic increase in education programs; successful ones. Some activities are illegal only if committed by minors: status offenses, boys more likely to engage in delinquent behaviors, boys commit more crimes of violence, girls commit more status offenses. Truancy and running away: many risk factors causality is not clear. Misinterpret other people as being hostile: family factors. High levels of conflict, abuse, punishment, and neglect. Prenatal smoking by mother: focus on individual offender, focus on systems. Family, peer groups, school, community: early childhood intervention programs, 7 8 adolescent suicides a year per 100,000. 39% by hangings: 15% reported seriously considering suicide, 11% had created a plan, 7% had tried to take their lives during the year preceding the survey, risk factors in suicide areas of psychological problems. Traumatic events, especially those that entail loss of social support.
