When you stop communicating, you start losing your valuable relationship. Proximity- you are likely to attract to or date someone that is near to you. Physical appearance- we are attracted to people that are good looking. (it takes you 1 second to figure out if someone is hot or not) Reciprocation of liking- we like people who like us. Competence/task attractiveness- deal with the fact that we tend to like people that are good at something, it can be random. Self-disclosure- we like people that are open up to us. Similarities- we are attracted to people that are similar to us. Complementary needs- it"s like a puzzle, if someone is opposite from you, you two are like a puzzle who would fit together (but not too opposite) Model of relational development (check out in the book) 50% chance of getting divorce in the us. 7: 7-year itch, where people start to feel bored of their romantic partner (internal)
