Political dominance by the gop and its allies. High tarriffs and protectionism- high tax on imported goods. Triumph of mass production and new investments overseas. Reversing the gains made by workers and unions. Breaking the wave of strikes that occurred in 1919. Most firms employed usual tactics to keep workers from organizing unions. Us economy boomed- but prosperity was not widely spread. But they benefited from reduced price of goods thanks to technology and chain stores. Working class remained relatively poor and economic insure during 1920s. Was encouraged by big employers, who feared political radicalism. Were convinced immigrants were importing radical notions in us, affecting other workers. Were especially concerned about potential bolshevik sympathizers in us. Roots of movement went back to mid 1800s. Changed on account of immigration, emphasizing laws that would impose it.
