Constructive discharge you quit because of a difficult/hostile work environment and had no choice; you can get unemployment. Federal law that prevents employer abuse and protects the employees expectations that benefits will be paid if programs are in place. If youre fired a week before your pension because the boss want to avoid getting it you have a case. At will employee: can be fired with or without reason. But if you think your fired because of age ethnicity religion gender then thats illegal. If you have a contract and are fired before term, then youre not an at will employee. Gotta get paid for the remainder of the contract if that happens.
