Document Summary

All a thesis really is is the goal of your paper; it tells the reader what you hope to argue/explain/ elucidate about a certain topic. Remember, all writing has a purpose and to communicate your purpose effectively, you must take into consideration the subject, audience, and speaker. Then your body paragraphs will include information and analysis that supports and proves your thesis, establishing credibility for your argument. Tentative thesis: words have the power to manipulate. Well, it"s not just that they manipulate, but that even when they are under the pretense of helping society, words are still a form manipulation. Other people see words as inspiring, but they don"t realize that all rhetoric attempts to communicate a message and even in the best speeches, words are mainly there to manipulate you into a certain idea. In dr. king"s the ways of meeting oppression and harvey milk"s. Give them hope, both speakers address the audience directly.
