Is something that is the foundation of our life
The sacred transcends our sense and reasoning
It is very hard/intense to define sacred
Sacred is DIFFERENT
a. Not good nor bad
b. Not Beautiful nor ugly
It is dangerous
There are different levels to Sacredness
Sacred places are typically elevated by stairs
The THREE TYPES of SYMBOLISM
a. Myths
a.i. They don’t explain .They say how the world is
a.ii. They are all true
a.iii. They are words through which the sacred manifests itself in
a.iv. Typically start with “In the beginning” or “before heaven and
earth was created”
a.v. It tells as if it is part of history
a.vi. Address truths not facts
a.vii. All humans have myths
