EBIO 2040 Lecture Notes - Lecture 13: Herbivore, Commensalism, Parasitism
Document Summary
2/20/18: communities- groups of interacting species that occur together at the same place, examines how interactions between species determine the community structure. Things we can measure in a community structure: number of species, how abundant is a species, how species interact with each other, trait diversity, trait of trophic level, networks. Most predators are generalists: carnivores, prey is not encountered often because they are mobile. Predation is one factor that may contribute to population cycles: predator and prey population closely follow each other when predator only eats a specific prey.
