Conglomerates form when glacial ice melts and dumps its load of sediments. Glacial valley is u-shaped because it"s being cut by ice and not by water. Erratics large boulders found basically in the middle of nowhere dropped by glaciers. Rock surfaces with scratches (called striations) form as ice slides over them. ~3 millions to 12,900 years for the glacial features in the us. There was once a huge ice sheet across the northern part of north america. Last glacial maximum about 20,000 years ago. Appearance of land bridges that allowed animals to disperse between continents. Growth of deserts, such as the sahara. Depressions on the continent such as the hudson bay in canada. Moraine ridge of till plowed up in front or along the edges of a glacier. Lateral -- along the side of the glacier. Terminal -- at the edge of the glacier, the end of it. Recessional -- to show as the glacier recedes.
