Betty friend, the feminine mystique : core concepts: Institutions don"t support choices or opportunities for women. Women are not treated as equals to men. Women do not have the same opportunities as men. Abortions, women should get to choose to be mothers or not. Dramatic shifts in law, institutions, and gender roles and ideas. Men are not the enemy, sexist ideas and institutions are. Abortion laws force women to have a baby, which leads to depression and violence towards their husbands and children. Limitations harm both men and women"s sexuality. The source of oppression: sex roles (pg. 511): political oppression, characterized by anti-authoritarian ideals. Radical feminism: strategy and tactics, re-education, constituency in mainly young women. Socialist feminism: capitalism is the oppressor, not just economic, also culturally and psychologically oppressed, destroy capitalism and employ socialism, draw on similarities with class and female oppression, active, political women are targeted.
