Sir francis galton (cousin of charles darwin)- measured the attractiveness of women he met and asked them where they are from. English women were the most attractive according to him: galton scale of attraction. Matching hypothesis- tendency to seek partners similar to ourselves in physical attractiveness: ex: us observations!! Scary to psychologists because it is very difficult to study: harlow- "when it comes to the psychology of love, psychologists have failed. The ones who wrote it bests are writers and poets. Secure attachment: an individual has a sense of trust, little to no concern about abandonment, and feelings of worthiness and being well-liked: avoidant attachment style- style based on suppression of attachment needs (because of previous intimacy involved rejection).
