Date/time: whenever the data is a date. Autonumber: when access automatically inserts the numbers for you. Hyperlink: whenever the data is a link. Yes/no: primary key: a field that can uniquely identify every record. If you are searching for a particular record, you can use the primary key. A social security number is the primary key for most government databases: an index lets you search for one or more records. Allows for more secure access to only parts of the data.
