BMES 345 Lecture 3: application 3 - 345
Document Summary
Modeling exercise 3: constitutive models of the anterior cruciate. Identify one major difference between a linear elastic material and a hyperelastic material. A hyperelastic material is a type of elastic material that acts in a non-linear manner and after applying large forces for deformation, it returns to its original shape. The biggest difference between hyperelastic materials and linear elastic materials is seen in the stress strain curve. The linear elastic material as the name states behaves linearly, instead the hyperplastic material acts non-linearly due to the material being derived by a strain energy density function. This a very common type of material used to model ligaments because of its similar behavior: (20 pts) briefly explain the meaning of the three equations listed for equation, define the most important terms in the equations. If possible, use only terminology we learned in class. (weis et al)
