Common breastfeeding conditions: sore nipples, could be due to low milk supply, poor positioning, poor latch, infection, soap and creams can irritate nipples, fixes, air dry after breastfeeding, all purpose ointment, warm compress, inverted nipples, fixes: Breast pump prior to feeding: letdown failure, stress, fixes, oxytocin nasal spray. Play soothing music: have partner rub knuckles down spine, decrease caffeine. Try different position: hyperactive letdown, may cause infant to choke, cough and take in air, fixes: Remove infant from breast when letdown occurs and wait until the flow slows down. Express milk until flow slows: hyperlactation, occurs when the volume exceeds intake, signs: Poor weight gain of baby: hyperactive letdown, green frothy stools. Reduce production by having baby nurse on 1 side and expressing milk on other. Cold compression: engorgement, overfilled breast w/ incomplete or inefficient emptying, caused by non established supply and demand, sleepy baby, and sore nipples, fixes:
