NEUROSCI 277 Lecture Notes - Lecture 5: Reinforcement, Fear Conditioning, Operant Conditioning
Document Summary
No action required: part of classical conditioning: input: Food and other primary reinforcers like water drive dopamine. Dopamine strengthens the synapses from the bla and the hf. Vs vp nbm (cid:1) (cid:1) Dopamine: da looking at dopamine signaling in the vta shows activity of dopamine neurons in the vta overtime. Learning what cues and what context has predicted this reward. And in time those cues and context will release dopamine and open the gate: baseline: tonic activity, top: when monkey gets a juice reward (r) you see phasic activity in these neurons. A burst of activity right when you get a reward: middle: light signaling before the juice. You see a shift of dopamine to the light signaling as opposed to when the reward is given. The monkey becomes ready for the reward. When he sees the light he is ready to get the juice (i. e. mouth open)
