Document Summary
Reliance on television and media to gain/keep power and influence: russian politics has increasing relied on media to garner certain image. Countries were not ready for communism because they did not have the foundation needed for them [believed. Germany and england would be the ones to transition to communism: the more advanced capitalist countries bought their working class > did not transition to communism. Communist countries fast-forwarded history in order to implement communism into society. Main difference between actual vs theoretical: actual forced rapid industrialization and agriculture/collectivization, actual shifted from markets to central command economy. State sets prices, what will be produced, and who will get it [not supply/demand] Removed the profit motive > state control of business/property. Political economy = state ownership: top-down economic approach, could not create incentive or motivation for people to work harder than someone else, lacks competition > industries stagnate = no innovation.
