Astronomy is a science:
-scientific method:
Observation -> hypothesis -> prediction -> test (if support then do further tests and if reject then revise
or make a new hypothesis)
Astronomy -- the science of the universe and the objects within it
Earth orbits the Sun every 365 days ccw
-it also spins on it's rotation axis which is tilted by about 23 degrees -- every spin = 24 hrs ccw
Moon orbits earth once every 27 days
-it spins/rotates once every orbit
-moon orbits in a plane that is tilted with respect to the earth-sun plane by about 5 degrees
-it spins/rotates once every orbit
-at every instance a phase of the moon can only be seen by around half the Earth
--eg. Full moon can be seen between 6am to 6pm
-at every instance a phase of the moon can only be seen by around half the Earth
--eg. Full moon can be seen between 6am to 6pm
Class 2
