Integrity testing: surveys designed to assess whether a person is general honest or dishonest, evolution of integrity testing: pp. 105-106: first chinese rice powder (dry mouth showed you were lying) polygraph test to detect physio arousal (skin, heart rate, respiration). seen as ineffective so it led to integrity testing. First part measures attitudes toward theft, second is about admitting moral views on theft/ wrongdoings. Personality and prediction: personality testing in the workplace includes, personnel selection, concerns over negligent hiring. Integrity testing- see if they"re trustworthy: employer could be charged with hiring someone unstable or prone to violence if one employee assaults another. So, they conduct personality tests to prove evidence that they didn"t know: *tests must not discriminate unfairly against protected groups such as women and certain minorities. Also, must be shown to be related to important real-life variables. Commonly used tests in personnel selection: minnesota multiphasic personality inventory (mmpi)
