Subjects forgot 20% of their friends; recalled 80% of their friends: predictors of forgetting. # friends recalled moderately positively correlated with absolute level of forgetting: comparisons between recalled and recognized friends individual, relationship, and structural characteristics. Equally likely to recall friends same-sex and opp-sex friends. Slightly less likely to recall friends living on other floors. Recall weakly negatively related to ordinal floor distance. Friends who lived in hall for short period more likely to be recalled than friends living in hall for longer. Recalled friends have modestly greater mean relationship strengths than recognized friends.
