Skene : a raised platform gave prominence to certain characters. The structure was not a very intimate space thus the chorus was created: chorus . A group of actors that spoke and moved at the same time to present one character. Parados : exits (how chorus gets on and off the stage) Coliseums used arches to create free-standing buildings. This allowed for a larger, more elaborate, and elevated stage. This was a much more intimate space: which eliminated a need for the chorus. The theatres were smaller overall influenced the locations and the type of plays performed. Shakespeare and the globe are the biggest names in this era. The stages were thrust: thrust . The stage is surrounded by people on three sides. Heaven and hell were built into the theatres: technology was brought into the theatre to achieve styles such as this. 5 different types of theatres: proscenium stage, thrust stage, arena stage, black box stage, found stage.
