Literature: the expression of the human condition, literary criticism: the explanation of the what and how of literature. The how refers to the tools a storyteller has at their disposal: left brain thinking: the explanation side of the brain. Left brain thinking would be literal, denotative, and sequential. This is the idea that you can prove it in the real world. It is reason and logic, math and science, and literary criticism: an example of left-brain thinking: you have a heart attack. You allow yourself to be: right brain thinking: the expression side of the brain. Right brain thinking would be symbolic, connotative, and wholistic/holistic. It is art, literature, and religion. rushed to surgery, and put your life in a stranger"s hands because you trust science: an example of right-brain thinking: you have a heart attack. Instead, you call a priest and pray for god to save you: mythos/ethos/ritual, ethos, or ethics. This is good and bad, right and wrong.
