Document Summary

Neuroscientist have made huge strides in understanding how the brain works. Bridging the gap between the workings of the nervous system and out behavior. Neurons are brain cells that specialize in communication allows us to span multiple levels of analysis. There"s around 85 billion neurons, w around 160 trillion connections. Oddly shaped compared to other cells in the body, they have a # of between them specific fts. Center of neuron; builds new cell components. Branch like extension that receive info from other neurons. Tails of the neuron that spread out from the cell body and transmit info. Knob at end of the axons that contains synaptic vesicles filled with neurotransmitters. Chemical messengers that allow neuron to neuron communication. Space between neurons through which nts travel. Neurons respond to nts by generating electrical activity. When there are no nt acting on a neuron, it is at resting potential.
