It is when an animator takes of their ideas and story concepts and puts them into an organized layout design of the animation. Scriptwriting goes through several stages before a script is considered finished. Scriptwriting goes through 4 stages: treatment, outline, drafts, formatting. They must be completed in a certain order. It is a summary of the action, themes, and style of the story. It varies from a paragraph to a few pages. It is important for an animator to be able to summarize their story at this point, just in case the need to pitch their idea. It is where the animator plans out the basic premise, plot points, and key events in their animation. It varies from bullet-points to hand-drawn lists of events. At this point, there are no specific stage directions or dialog: the writer is only focusing on getting their ideas down. It doesn"t matter whether you are doing an animation, film, or game.
