Document Summary

Sag 105l4 lecture 17 body language. Body language is the one universal language that everyone on the planet speaks fluently. As soon as a character moves, the animator is dictating how the character feels by giving the audience clues through their body language. Even something as simple as how the character holds themselves while idle will convey a great deal. Being able to convey what your character is thinking and feeling in one pose is difficult, but it is just the beginning of animation. Do not rely on simple facial expressions to convey emotion. The strongest body language is communicated through body stance: the face is just used to confirm the emotion. People are extremely good a reading a person"s body language. Many of the signals are very subtle, however, and can be challenging to capture these in an animation. Open posture: conveys a positive and engaged character, characterized by open arms with the arms and legs apart.
