Any topic you write about in your paper, you will not answer a question to on the test so, if you write
about it, don't study it, don't answer a question about it on the final
Kant makes it sound like we are creating the world
But not really, he wants to draw our attention to 2 aspects of our experience (form and content)
The form your experience takes is different from the content the experience has
The content of an experience is independent of the mind
The form is developed by the human mind
The content comes from something other than me (comes somewhere else, it is independent of me)
form comes from me (I make it up)
Form is a different medium of representation set up by the mind
A object depicted in a photograph and an oil painting are shown in different medium, but they both
contain the same content in terms of the object
You can't ever experience the content by itself, it needs a form
Even when you are looking at the object directly, there still is a medium of representation
The canvas or frame is part of the form
The content is represented on the canvas
But now the canvas or the frame has become an object on its own and now they need to be represented
by some medium
So the medium of the canvas can be the ingredients the canvas is being made out of, whether it is
cardboard or paper
The wall it hangs on is also a medium
But even the wall has a medium of representation for the content
The medium of the wall can now be the room
This cascade of mediums (forms) and content show that content can exist by itself, it has a medium of
representation
Trying to paint a picture without any canvas is an impossible, you can't make a visual form so your
content can't be represented or depicted
Imagination allows us to create a medium of representation of the world
Space is left over after removing content and form
