EGN 3321 Lecture Notes - Lecture 9: Kinematics, Vector Projection, Sign Convention
Document Summary
L 9 ( 9-18-12) & l 10 ( 9-20-12) Test 1: 60 minutes ( ~ 11:00 to 12:00 noon, bring blue books, chapter 12, please try to come to the class at least. 5 minutes early for this test: students authorized to take the test in a different setting please see the instructor asap. In many kinematics problems, the motion of one object will depend on the motion of another object. The blocks in this figure are connected by an inextensible cord wrapped around a pulley. If block a moves downward along the inclined plane, block b will move up the other incline. The motion of each block can be related mathematically by defining position coordinates, sa and sb. Each coordinate axis is defined from a fixed point or datum line, measured positive along each plane in the direction of motion of each block.
