Living or working close to others is important in the early stages of forming a relationship (leon festinger 1950). However, accessibility to others is changing: mobile phones, internet. The more familiar one becomes with someone (or something), the more comfortable one becomes with it, thus the more one likes it (moreland et beach 1972). Repeated exposure to an object/a person results in greater attraction to that particular object/person (however, only up to a certain limit) (zajonc 1968) Initially, proximity is important; then, the similarity of attitudes become more important (newcomb 1961). There is a linear relationship between attraction to another person and the number of similar attitudes shared with them (clore 1976).
