Document Summary
If the classical view has these trait . : underlying form, reason/ analysis, categories/ classification, law/ order, objective, detached, value neutral, rules/ routine. And if classical reason sounds like this learning and problem solving will look like this : memorize facts, learn by rote, refer to authority: it says so right here in the book, do everything by the book. Adhere to policies and procedures: learn by imitating. Follow mode of someone who knows better. Make your product look like the model. Zmm offers a critique of imitative or rigid methods of solving problems: these may be in technology, or in any field affected by classical reason. Business, education, institutions: these imitative methods. Are unlikely to produce the best solution. Are blind to larger purpose of a task. Alienate people from their work: similar to ideas in management. Zmm advocated a way of problem solving similar to a craftsman- the art of motorcycle.
