Document Summary

Surfaces of the sun: radiation zone. Energy in the core that is transmitted outside as electromagnetic radiation. Convection zone is on top of it: photosphere. The cool gas sinks down and the hot air rises. The diameter can reach up to 1000 km wide. They can appear and disappear rather quickly. Sometimes takes a few minutes to a few seconds. There are millions in the photosphere: chromosphere. Layer of gas that moves outward and sustained by the chromosphere. Spicule: arise, thin, filament collapse down; jets of gas; Can be as high as 10,000km: transition zone. Cornea = upper atmosphere of a star. Always in pair with the north and south poles. Dark area at 4500k which makes it hot. Every 11 years the sun has the maximum number of sunspots. Is very violent and causes airplane blackouts and satellites would come down. Solar weather also effects the stock market.
