Third estate: political pamphlet written in january 1789. the french bourgeoisie and working class before the french revolution. It represented the great majority of the people, and its deputies" transformation of themselves into a national assembly in june 1789 marked the beginning of the french revolution. Jacobins: jacobins were the member of the democratic club established in paris in 1789. They were led by maximilien robespierre from 1793 to 1794. this was the group of people in the national assembly that met to discuss the political questions of the day. Committee of public safety : the leaders under robespierre who organized the defenses of. France, conducted foreign policy, and centralized authority during the period. 1792-1795. established and led by robespierre, fixed bread prices and nationalized some businesses. Basically secret police and also controlled the war effort. Napoleon bonaparte : overthrew french directory in 1799 and became emperor of the french in 1804. Failed to defeat great britain and abdicated in 1814.
