Document Summary
Two key differences between philosophy and science. They answer those questions in a different way. Science has an empirical focus; like the scientific method (other acronym) Philosophical questions can"t be answered solely by empirical investigation. Conceptual questions (asking the nature of certain concepts) What is a lie? (this is the first question you should ask)(it"s also a conceptual analysis) Can be defined as to say something false. Normative questions: questions about the way things should be (whether things are good/bad or right/wrong) Normative vs descriptive: the way things are vs the way they should be. Moral/ethical questions are a type of normative question. Determining the moral value of certain kinds of action or behaviours. Argument: a set of statement, where some of those statements (called premises ) are offered in support of one of the other statements ( conclusion ) We should demolish the building because the experts say it is unsafe.
