To show if americans would unquestionable follow authority (based o german soldiers following orders) Found that a large # of americans followed authority unquestionably (~2/3 of subjects went to maximum voltage) Altemeyer (1988): submission to authority, authoritarian aggression, conventionalism. Low in critical thinking, ignore contradictions in thought. The world is seen as a dangerous place. Some groups of people must be kept in their place. It"s probably a good thing that certain groups are at the top and other groups are at the bottom. An idea society requires some groups to be on top and others to be on the bottom. Some groups of people are simply inferior to others. Groups at the bottom are just as deserving as groups at the top (reversed)
