Document Summary

Stimuli that are physically similar to the sd evoke behavior. Sd is already established and stimuli that are novel will still evoke the same behavior due to similarity. E. g. , behaving comfortably with individuals who are similar to your friends. Under identical stimulus conditions, engaging in a new response to achieve the same result. E. g. , when cold, getting a blanket instead of what you usually do, which is raise the thermostat. Target behavior continues to occur relevant to situations after training. E. g. , teaching someone to ride a bike, and they continue to know how months later after training has ceased. Reinforce the behavior when it occurs outside of the learning situation in the presence of relevant stimuli. May need to use contrived reinforcement at first, but then fade. Modify contingencies of reinforcement & punishment in natural environment. If you cannot reinforce the behavior in the natural setting, train others to do so. Must have some control over natural contingencies.
