Look to other sources (family members and friends) Sometimes we have to take what they say at face value. Biases see what we want to see. Confirmatory bias we pick what we want to support our theory. Stay up to date with current lit on dx. Informed consent let the pt know that you will be writing a report and what the components are and when to expect it. Reasons for referral why are they here, what are their presenting problem and what are they claiming. Make sure pt understands what is going on. How much impairment will telling the pt impact them.
