Document Summary

Reasons for killing, myths, & the organized and disorganized dichotomy. There is not definitive answer, though it"s widely believed to be both. According to the fbi, the answer to how did this person become a serial killer? lies in the development of the individual from birth to adulthood. The behavior a person exhibits is influenced by life experiences and biological factors. Intelligent: kill for sexual pleasure, all white, all male, loners, move around, all insane , cannot stop killing, kill many victims, want to be caught. Most get cocky and sloppy, and this leads to capture: organized/disorganized dichotomy. Fbi profilers, applying early profiling techniques, identified the characteristic of organized and disorganized serial killers using information gathered at the crime scene and examining the nature of the crime itself. The organized and disorganized dichotomy was created from informal fbi interviews with 36 incarcerated murderers.
